Small Plane Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured in New Jersey

New Jersey State Police say one person is dead and another seriously injured in the crash of a small plane in Alexandria Township, Hunterdon County.

State Police Sgt. Steve Jones said the plane crashed about 8 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area of the rural community about 30 miles northwest of Trenton.

State police and area fire companies responded. The Federal Aviation Administration and the New Jersey Division of Aeronautics were notified.

There are two small airports in the area, but it was not immediately known if the plane was trying to land or take off from either.
