For many, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, but for troops deployed overseas the holidays can be one of the hardest.

That’s why Xerox started "Let’s Say Thanks," a program that allows people to send personalized postcards to servicemen and women around the world without leaving their computers or spending a cent.

Just got to www.letssaythanks.com, pick one of the many postcard designs submitted by children across the country, write your name, hometown and a note -- or select from a collection of prewritten messages -- and hit send.

The postcards are then printed by Xerox and mailed by Give2TheTroops, a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to troops from all military branches deployed on active duty.

Senders can send an unlimited about of cards but are warned by the Web site that offensive messages will be filtered out, “including support for or comments about other groups, causes or organizations.”

Senders also can not direct cards to specific service members, but downloadable files are available for those looking to send a "Let’s Say Thanks" postcard to relative or friend on their own.

To date the company has collected “millions of messages for U.S. Troops around the world,” said Xerox CEO Ann Mulcahy in a statement posted on their Web site.

Some of those messages are featured on the Web site -- along with special celebrity messages, responses from the troops and a thank you to the various other companies that contribute to "Let’s Say Thanks."

“The amazing support of this program has far exceeded our expectations,” Mulcahy said. “I hope you find as much inspiration in these cards – and in the hope shared in each of the messages – as I do.”
