A woman described by relatives as suicidal allegedly threw her baby off a ferry in the Philippines, killing the 1-year-old boy, according to Sky News.
Flordeluna Pabuaya, 27, reportedly dove into the water after her son and was found alive after about an hour.
The boy was already dead by the time rescuers got to him.
Pabuaya's father-in-law, who was also on the ferry heading from Manila to Bacolod City, told officials his daughter-in-law has a "suicidal instinct" and had tried to hill herself in the past, Sky News reported.
Her father, Leonardo Reyes, said Pabuaya had been treated after she claimed she was being chased by someone who wanted to kill her and her son.
Pabuaya was in police custody, and psychological tests were expected.
