Montgomery County police say one person has been shot outside a Macy's department store at a suburban Washington shopping mall. A second person was hit by glass.

Police spokeswoman Blanca Kling says the person was shot during an altercation outside Westfield Mall about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Montgomery County police Lt. Paul Starks tells The Washington Post that the gunman then entered Macy's and shot at a police officer.

Neither the officer nor shoppers were believed to have been hurt.

Police say they have suspects, but have made no arrests. Elina Kazan, a spokeswoman for Macy's in New York, says some sections of the store were later closed to shoppers because of the investigation. She says Macy's is cooperating with police.
