Jeremy Piven Out of Broadway Show, Has 'Shocking Levels' of Mercury

Jeremy Piven's doctor says he pulled the actor out of the Broadway play "Speed the Plow" due to "shocking levels" of mercury.

Dr. Carlon Colker tells that the actor had levels of mercury six times the allowable limit, and said they were the "highest he'd ever seen."

"I pulled Jeremy from the show," says Dr. Carlon Colker. "I'm an unpopular character right now."

The play's writer, David Mamet, mocked Piven earlier in the day, saying his leading man was leaving the show to "pursue a career as a thermometer."

Piven's doctor said the increased mercury levels were due to the 43-year-old actor eating too much sushi and injesting Chinese herbs.

Piven said he had been feeling fatigued, and after a three-day hospitalization, Colker advised him to quit the show.

The actor will be replaced by Norbert Leo Butz and William H. Macy.
