A jury in Fort Lauderdale has begun deliberating in the trial of an Iranian woman accused of scheming to provide Iran with prohibited military night vision goggles.

Shahrazad Mir Gholikhanv pleaded guilty in April based on a promise that she could return home to her twin daughters.

But she withdrew the plea when the deal fell apart and went to trial earlier this month. Closing arguments were Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors contend that Gholikhan and her ex-husband conspired to illegally obtain 3,500 pairs of sophisticated night-vision goggles for Iran.

Gholikhan contends she only translated at key meetings and wasn't part of the plot. Gholikhan has been acting as her own lawyer.
