Mystery Gunman Opens Fire in Crowded Ohio Bar, Killing One Person, Injuring Five

A gunman opened fire inside a crowded bar, killing a man and injuring five other people, authorities said Friday.

Several fights broke out inside Higgins Station in suburban Dayton shortly after 2 a.m., and someone pulled a handgun out of his belt and fired 10 to 15 rounds, police said.

David Watson, 21, of Dayton, was shot and later died, according to the Montgomery County coroner's office.

The other victims, who include three men and two women, were taken to hospitals. Police Sgt. Fred Beck said three of the victims were later released.

Porter said police do not know what caused the fights. An officer who was across the street at the time saw people fleeing the bar and called for backup.

The gunman fled immediately after discharging his weapon, which is believed to be a semiautomatic handgun, police said.

No arrests have been made.
