DURHAM, N.C. – A North Carolina Central University student was been found dead in a dorm room, a university spokewoman said.
University spokeswoman Miji Bell said authorities were investigating Wednesday after the male student was found dead in the Richmond Hall dormitory Tuesday night. Chancellor Charlie Nelms said in a letter to faculty and students that there is no indication of foul play.
Details weren't immediately available Wednesday morning. The student's name hasn't been released. Bell said the body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
Nelms is offering condolences to the student's family and friends. He also said grief counseling is available to students, faculty and staff.
