Coroner: 'Digging for Gold' Cost Man His Life

A British inquest ruled a 63-year-old man died of a fatal nosebleed after picking his nose too much.

Ian Bothwell, of Ladybarn near Didsbury, Manchester in England, suffered from dementia brought on by alcoholism. He was found alone at his home with his nasal cavity full of blood.

"There is no explanation for this death other than he died from a nose-bleed, consistent with picking his nose,” Manchester coroner Nigel Meadows concluded.

"I do not think for a moment he knew what he was doing was going to cause his death.”
