An Indian woman, who got married 50 years ago, has become a mother for the very first time at the ripe old age of 70-years-old, Agence-France Presse reported Monday.
Rajo Devi gave birth to a baby girl nearly two weeks ago after undergoing in vitro fertilization, the AFP reported her doctor, Anurag Bishnoi, as saying Monday.
"Rajo Devi and (her husband) Bala Ram approached the center for treatment and the embryo transfer was done on April 19," the doctor told the Hindustan Times. "Both the mother and child are in good health."
Bishnoi claimed Devi was the world's oldest mother, according to the news agency.
Another 70-year-old Indian was reported to have given birth to twins via IVF in July this year, while a 66-year-old Spanish woman had twins in 2006, AFP reported.
