Taylor Swift knows a thing or two about writing love songs, but only a few men are lucky enough to have the honor of being an inspiration for the lovely young singer.

People magazine has revealed that one lucky mystery man who inspired her song “Hey Stephen,” is singer Stephen Barker Liles, 24, of the Nashville-based pop group Love and Theft.

So is he Taylor’s new crush?

With lyrics like “Cause I can’t help it if you look like an angel/Can’t help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain,” and Taylor’s recent confession that Love and Theft is her “favorite band,” it’s hard not to think so.

“I wrote this song last year about a guy named Stephen who I thought was cute. Sometimes all it takes to write a song about someone is thinking that they’re cute,” the singer told People.

But a source close to Swift says the two were never an item and that Swift just had a “brief crush.”

Liles, however, was rightfully flattered.

“It’s totally flattering to have somebody write a song like that for you,” Liles said. “I think everyone would agree she’s a total sweetheart and anyone would be lucky to go out with her.”
