Actress Michelle Williams opens up about her struggle to move on since the death of her ex-boyfriend and the father of her daughter, Heath Ledger in an interview with Newsweek magazine.

The former “Dawsons Creek” and “Brokeback Mountain” star, 28, says she isn’t the kind of actress who craves attention. But she was undoubtedly forced into the spotlight last January, when Ledger – with whom she had recently split—was found dead from an apparent drug overdose.

“I guess it’s always changing,” Williams told Newsweek of her grief. “What else can I say? I just wake up each day in a slightly different place—grief is like a moving river, so that’s what I mean by ‘it’s always changing.”

“… At heart I’m an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It’s just that the more time passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That’s what I would say.”

Williams also added that she might quit acting if the paparazzi don’t leave her and her daughter alone, adding that she is fiercely protective of her daughter’s privacy.

“I want her to have a routine,” she said. “I want the plainest, simplest, most ordinary, habituated routine possible. I just want her know what’s coming next,” she said.
