Florida authorities have found the bodies of two divers who went missing after they descended into an underwater cave system.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says a car belonging to one of the men was found Wednesday at the School Sink in Hudson, a sinkhole on private property about 30 miles north of Tampa.

The men, who were not identified, had been missing since Tuesday.

Cave diving is popular in the many springs of north-central Florida, but it's considered a dangerous sport. The caves can be dark and deep, and branch off into many directions, making it difficult to navigate.

A sheriff's spokesman said the men apparently had permission to dive on the property, though it's unclear whether they had proper certification.
