A tropical depression has formed off Honduras' Caribbean coast and is expected to become a tropical storm later Thursday.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the Honduran government has issued a tropical storm watch for a stretch of coastline between the city of Limon and the Nicaraguan border.
On Wednesday afternoon, the center of the storm was located 115 miles southeast of the Honduran-Nicaraguan border.
It is moving northwest at 5 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph.
Heavy rains and flooding have killed more than 30 people in recent weeks and left 16 people missing.
