A gambler is suing one of Australia’s biggest casinos for luring him into a betting binge that cost him $25 million.
Harry Kakavas is suing Melbourne’s Crown Casino for $34 million in damages relating to their alleged exploitation of his gambling addiction.
The property developer was prohibited since 2004 from gambling in Australian casinos over his 14-month, $909 million gambling binge at Crown Casino, Reuters reported. The court was told Crown managers didn’t “give a monkey’s --- ” about the restrictions, Reuters said.
Kavakas accuses Crown managers of outlining a plan to coax him to their baccarat tables after finding out he spent millions in a Vegas binge. He allegedly submitted audio from a hidden voice recorder in which the managers apparently try to talk the gambling addict into a visit.
