Heidi Montag has certainly been vocal about her support for Republican presidential candidate John McCain, but it turns out that "The Hills" hottie was like, totally honored that famed artist/curator Steven Corfe went to the trouble of mocking her and her chest region.
Corfe’s fellow companion in the street artist biz, Shepard Fairey , sent the election into a spin earlier this year when he brought out the iconic "Hope" portrait of Obama. The graphic instantly became a sell-out on merchandise across the world from apparel to bumper stickers to mugs to screensavers.
But when Corfe heard that Heidi and her beau Spencer Pratt had signed on to host Svedka Vodka's "Putting the Party Back in Politics" Hollywood, DC: Lights! Camera! Election! bash at Hollywood's World of Wonder Gallery, he decided to do a 2 by 3 foot re-creation of Fairey’s popular image.
Instead of Barack's smiling face poised above "HOPE" Corfe’s rendition features Montag holding two melons in place of her breasts along with the word "GROPE" (early last year, the 22-year-old reality starlet went under the knife to have her assets augmented).
"I am so honored! When I heard about this I seriously almost cried," Montag exclaimed when the portrait was unveiled at the party, before immediately purchasing it for $2000.
Maybe Miss Montag thinks her new politically-related pic will bring the Republican team good luck in next week's election.
"I'm praying for them," she said. "Sarah Palin will do well. She is such a strong, independent woman. I'm her biggest fan."
Also spotted at the soiree was the likes of Taryn Manning, Jesse Metcalf, Bobby Trendy, Alexis Arquette and some F-list reality TV peeps. While it was a fun crowd, it wasn't exactly A-list and according to one inside industry source "big names" simply won't RSVP to Speidi-related gigs even when an appearance fee is offered.
Out & About in Tinseltown: New Mom Minnie Driver Super Skinny While Mischa Barton Goes Mom and Mini
Only six weeks after giving birth to a beautiful baby boy, a super-skinny Minnie Driver stepped out to the Jules Smith/UES/Blaine Fashion Preview in L.A last week. The actress stayed mum on how she managed to shed those pregnancy pounds so rapidly (she looked even thinner then before she became pregnant) and gnoshed only on fresh fruit and Snapple Antioxidant water.
Speaking of motherhood and minis, Pop Tarts spotted a very dolled-up Mischa Barton at the opening of Arcade Boutique by Rochelle Gores on Melrose last Thursday. The convicted DUI offender brought her mama as her date (we hear it was too make sure she stays out of trouble) and she stuck to water and cupcakes.
Barton managed to squeeze herself into an uber-tight metallic mini-dress (the look definitely worked for her) and was overheard talking about her hatred of going out and how she much prefers to stay at home with her pals. Hmmm, that probably would have been a beneficial mantra late last year. ...
(Psst…she can’t "hate" Hollywood parties too much because Pop Tarts spies also spotted her at the Vanity Fair and Burberry bashes last week and then again on Saturday at Best Buy’s launch of Guitar Hero World Tour).
Also spotted making a super quick appearance at the super stylish soiree was Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer. Those two very rarely make public party appearances — but there was a catch. Meyer's jewelry line is being sold at the high-end store. ...
Ben Stiller (Almost) Falls Victim to Electioneering
While its "trendy" in Tinseltown to be seen sporting some sort of pro-Obama outfit, a lot of celebs obviously don't realize that it could cost them their right to vote.
But as one of the more intelligent stars out there, we were surprised that Ben Stiller wasn't aware that wearing election paraphernalia to a polling place in California is considered electioneering and they'll send you home.
"You can't wear an Obama shirt," "Madagascar 2" co-star Chris Rock had to explain to a surprised Stiller after Pop Tarts made a joke about it. "They won't let you vote."
The "Tropic Thunder" actor said he plans to be in Ohio next week, livin' it up with the Beastie Boys at the "Get Out & Vote" concert.
