The discovery of three urns holding cremated remains at a Goodwill store is under investigation by police.

A store worker at the Gresham Goodwill, the second busiest Goodwill in the Pacific Northwest, found the urns while sorting through a box of miscellaneous household items left at the store.

She told her boss, who called Gresham police.

A Goodwill spokeswoman called the discovery of the urns "disturbing and sad."

She also said it was unusual, even though the chain of thrift stores took in 136.2 million pounds of donated goods last year, breaking a record.

The urns, meanwhile, have been turned over to a funeral home.
