Air Force Base Childcare Workers Cited for Marijuana Possession

The Shandiin Child Development Center at Kirtland Air Force Base has been temporarily closed after three employees were cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Col. Michael Duvall, 377th Air Base Wing commander, and representatives from the National Nuclear Security Administration Service Center decided to temporarily suspended operations at the childcare center after the workers were cited Tuesday.

Duvall said until he can confirm this was an isolated incident and there are measures in place to ensure the children's safety, he can't let the center continue to operate.

Base officials said the three employees were fired and will be prosecuted.
