New York Man Accused of Poisoning Wife's Coffee

CENTER MORICHES, N.Y. – A man is being held on an attempted murder charge after being accused of putting cyanide in his estranged wife's coffee, Suffolk County police said.

Maureen Steeves, 41, of Center Moriches, on Long Island, has been on life support since Oct. 18, authorities said.

David A. Steeves was arraigned Wednesday in Central Islip. Prosecutors said contact information for his attorney was not immediately available.

He was arrested Tuesday with assistance from U.S. Marshals in New York and the New Jersey Fugitive Task Force.
