A teen from Poinciana, Fla. has been diagnosed with a drug-resistant staph infection one month after his brother died from a similar one.

Liberty High School football player Darius Bentley has a mild case of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, but has been cleared to play sports. His brother, Alonzo Smith, died Sept. 29 after the infection entered his bloodstream.

Two other players at the Osceola County school have recovered from similar infections.

The infection is usually treatable. People carry it on their skin or inside their noses. The danger rises when the infection spreads to the bloodstream.
