Philadelphia Teen Gets Life in Prison for Killing Boy to Steal Dirt Bike

PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia man convicted of killing a 16-year-old boy to steal his $3,000 dirt bike was sentenced to life in prison.

Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Selber says 18-year-old Eric Smith did not express remorse at Friday's hearing for the July 2007 shooting death of Louis Navarro.

Smith's attorney, Daniel Redrine, did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment.

Navarro's parents had given him the bike a week before his death for his 16th birthday.

His sister, Yanessa Navarro, says Smith is a coward to have taken her brother's life over a toy.
