LOS ANGELES – Reports have been running rampant all week that David Duchovny cheated on wife Tea Leoni with a tennis instructor, but according to the actor it is all "salacious and sensational gossip" that has caused him "substantial harm."
Duchovny filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday for defamation and invasion of privacy against the originators of the story, British publication The Daily Mail, seeking no less than $1 million in damages. On October 18 the well-known tabloid ran a story on its Web site which claimed that the "Californication" star was having a "full-blown sexual affair" with his tennis teacher Edit Pakey and that he had planned to leave his wife of 11 years to be with her. However Pakey claims in the suit that they are "just friends" and says she was never even hired to be his tennis coach.
According to the documents, The Daily Mail was informed of their article's falsity before it was published but they chose to move forward with the story anyway. Duchovny's peeps are now demanding the case go to trial.
A representative from The Daily Mail could not be immediately reached for comment.
The 48-year-old actor was recently released from rehab after voluntarily receiving treatment for sex addiction and just last week it was revealed that he and Leoni had been separated for several months.
More Than a Model: Playmate of the Year Writing Self-Help Book
She was Hugh Hefner's pick as the 2007 "Playmate of the Year," but Jayde Nicole is more than just a pretty face (and body).
The 22-year-old Canadian native recently revealed to Pop Tarts that in between bearing her bod and riding the wave of her highly sought-after title, she's been busy writing a book to inspire young women.
"It's just a collection of things that have worked for me including beauty, health and nutritional tips," Nicole said, adding that her secret to a six-pack is sucking in whenever she is sitting down.
"I don't do any abs work aside from that," she said with a smile.
Jayde's hectic Hollywood schedule has meant she has been staying at the iconic Mansion for the past few weeks and has grown particularly close to Hef's former number one girlfriend, Holly Madison. Someone else the glamour girl has also grown very close too is "The Hills" sensation, Brody Jenner.
We’re told the two met at Hef's "Midsummer Night’s Dream" bash in August and have been inseparable ever since. Well, almost inseparable.
Jayde hit up West Hollywood hotspot Coco De Ville on Tuesday night without Jenner, but instead bunny-hopped around with his BFF and reality television co-star, Frankie Delgado who promotes the chic little lounge every Tuesday. True to her Playboy rep, Jayde donned a tight black mini-dress and provocatively sucked on a red lollipop throughout the night.
"Gossip Girl" Taylor Momsen Lucky to Be Alive
Being a starlet certainly doesn’t make you immune to nasty infections — a fact Taylor Momsen has learned the hard way.
The 15-year-old "Gossip Girl" was released from West Hollywood’s Cedars-Senai Medical Center on Wednesday after being admitted a few days earlier with a life-threatening throat infection. According to Us Weekly, Momsen has been placed on aggressive antibiotics and is expected to make a full recovery within the next 3-5 days.
New Couple Alert: Nikki Reed & Rob Pattinson?
Nikki Reed and Rob Pattinson are getting ready to burst onto the scene again as their highly-anticipated flick "Twilight" will hit the big screen in just a few weeks. But it looks as though the "Thirteen" starlet and "Harry Potter" sensation have more than just a professional relationship.
The talented twosome attended the T-Mobile G1 Launch event at Siren Studios in Hollywood together on Sunday, and were acting like more than just good friends.
"They spent the night together talking very intimately and flirting," said an eyewitness, adding that they left together with their hands touching.
Reps for Reed and Pattison did not respond for comment.
