Israeli Spa Covers Clients With Snakes in $70 'Relaxing' Massage

For $70, an Israeli health spa will cover its clients with snakes in what they say is a “relaxing” massage to treat aching muscles and joints, the Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday.

Ada Barak uses six non-venomous snakes in her northern Israel spa, including California and Florida king snakes, corn snakes and milk snakes for the massage, which she believes is a relaxing experience for the client.

Barak told the Telegraph that once people overcome their fear, physical contact with snakes is stress relieving.

"Some people said that holding the snakes made them feel better, relaxed," she told the Telegraph. "One old lady said it was soothing, like a cold compress."

Barak says the size of the snakes used during the massage depends on the type of muscle treatment needed. The larger snakes alleviate deep tension while the smaller ones create a “fluttering” effect.
