Girl, 3, Who Vanished From Store, Found Safe; Suspect in Custody

A 3-year-old girl reported missing from a New Jersey thrift store was found safe several hours after police issued an Amber Alert for her, police told

The girl, Jessica Alexandra Alvarez, was spotted on surveillance video being led out of the Unique Thrift Store in Elizabeth, N.J., by an unidentified woman while the girl's mother was shopping around noon Thursday, police said.

The suspect, who had been described by state police as a black woman in her late 40s or early 50s, was in custody, Elizabeth police told's Michelle Maskaly contributed to this report.
