CHICAGO – Prosecutors say a Chicago teenager charged with murdering an eighth-grader warned the boy a few days before the shooting that he was on a "death list."
Friends and family say Sameere Conn stopped in a store on Oct. 1 after playing football, and was shot by a gunman who fired through a window.
Prosecutors said Sebastian Rodriguez fired the shots that also wounded a 27-year-old man.
During a bond hearing, Assistant State's Attorney Maria McCarthy said the defendant and another witness had a three-way phone conversation with the victim three days before the shooting.
She said Rodriguez told the victim that he had a "death list" with the victim's name on it.
Cook County Circuit Judge Raymond Myles denied bail Tuesday for Rodriguez, who was charged as an adult.
