Kentucky Deputy Wanted in Ex-Girlfriend's Murder Captured at Days Inn

A sheriff's deputy accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in Kentucky has been captured in Iowa.

The Black Hawk County sheriff's office says Randall Creek, of Bowling Green, Ky., was taken into custody early Tuesday at a motel in Evansdale, near Waterloo.

Capt. Reid Corson says they had received information that Creek was in Iowa, and a police officer on routine patrol spotted his car at a Days Inn about 11 p.m. on Monday.

Corson says officers set up surveillance and took Creek into custody without incident when he came out of his motel room shortly after midnight. Creek reportedly taunted state police in an e-mail exchange Monday, threatening a county jailer and telling police he was going to "make them earn their money" in their search for him.

Creek is being held at the Black Hawk County jail pending an extradition hearing.

Creek, a deputy in Simpson County, Ky., is wanted for killing Debbie Rediess. She was shot to death outside her home in Smiths Grove on Sunday.
