GM at 100. General Motors Lists its 10 Most Important Cars

In recognition of its 100th anniversary, General Motors has chosen what it considers to be the 10 most important vehicles that the corporation has produced over the past one hundred years.

From the 1910 Cadillac Model 30, the world’s first enclosed production car, to the ill-fated EV1 electric car of 1996, the vehicles run the gamut from technological advances to styling successes, and mark many of the high points in GM’s history.

Notably absent are cars from the 1970’s and 1980’s, as well as the the past decade, all troubled times for the automaker.

GM will mark the centennial on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008, with an event billed GMnext Day, where it is expected to unveil its new car of tomorrow, the electric-powered Chevy Volt. Many consider the vehicle a make or break product for the company as it enters its second century.
