SAO PAULO, Brazil – Police say a bus crashed on its way to a religious event after an animal crossed in front of the vehicle. Seven passengers are dead and more than 20 injured.
Brazil's federal highway police say two ministers were among those who died after the driver lost control and the bus rolled on Saturday in the state of Pernambuco. At least three churchgoers were hospitalized in serious condition.
Police officer Maria do Carmo Barbosa says the bus was about 100 kilometers from its destination.
The bus driver told local media he lost control after an animal crossed the road in front of the bus.
On Wednesday, 10 people died in another wreck in Pernambuco when a bus carrying university students collided with a truck.
