'Star Trek' Actor George Takei to Marry Boyfriend on Sunday

"Star Trek" actor George Takei will tie the knot with his boyfriend Brad Altman in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The actor, known for his role as Sulu on the "Star Trek" sci-fi TV series, was the first to pay $70 for a marriage license in West Hollywood in June after the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage.

Nichelle Nichols — who played Uhura – will be their "best lady" and Walter Koenig — who played Chekhov — will be the best man.

Originally not on the guest list, William "Captain Kirk" Shatner was eventually invited. But since he never replied, he's not expected to attend.

Takei told AP Radio of the pending nuptials, "We are overjoyed, ecstatic." For his part, Altman said that he "can't live without George."

They've been together 21 years without a marriage license, but Takei said he's not worried that making it official will change anything. He said that they have "a tested and stable relationship."

After the ceremony, Takei, 71, and Altman, 54, will honeymoon in Argentina and Peru.
