Apparently bears have a yen for more than just picnic baskets.

Investigators say a large black bear in Garfield County raided a clandestine marijuana growing operation.

Deputies say they found pipes chewed in half, cans with the marks of bear teeth and food containers that had been torn apart.

Garfield County Sheriff Danny Perkins says the operation on Boulder Mountain included 4,000 "starter" sacks of pot and 888 young plants.

Repeated visits from the bear apparently drove the pot farmers away. The plants have been destroyed.

Perkins says if he finds the big bruin, he may deputize him.
