CRANSTON, R.I. – The woman who became the youngest person ever convicted of murder as an adult in Rhode Island will be paroled this month, despite having a sexual relationship with her work-release job supervisor.
Corrections officials say Jessica Gonzalez was removed this summer from her job at an East Providence elderly care center after officials learned of her relationship with a supervisor.
Gonzalez was 15 years old when she was convicted in 1998 of killing a former roommate. She is due to be paroled later this month.
Corrections Department Director A.T. Wall says Gonzalez won't be disciplined because department policy holds only supervisors responsible for sexual relationships with inmates.
