A Bear area woman is being accused by police of ordering her pit bull to attack an officer as he arrested her boyfriend.

New Castle County Police say 19-year-old Samantha Rutter is charged with disorderly conduct and use of an animal to avoid capture.

Officers say the dog did not comply with Rutter's order.

According to police, the incident occurred Saturday afternoon after a foot chase that began on Smalley's Dam Road. Police say Rutter's 17-year-old boyfriend led them to her yard on Shadow Lane.

The boyfriend is charged with resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.
