Searchers have found an adult and 14 children some 19 hours after they were reported missing during a school outing in the Gila National Forest in southwestern New Mexico.
State police Lt. Eric Garcia says they are en route back to a base camp.
Garcia says 15 children and two adults went on a hiking trip Wednesday and all but two in the group failed to return by the afternoon.
Garcia says 12 search and rescue teams, some on horseback, and National Guard quick response teams were looking for the hikers. State police and U.S. Border Patrol aircraft also were involved in the search.
The group was from a charter school in Silver City.
