HAVERHILL, Mass. – A 26-year-old cosmetics saleswoman and her boyfriend accused of selling cocaine over the counter at a pharmacy were ordered held on bail at their arraignment.
A judge ordered 26-year-old Luis Ledesma held on $25,000 cash bail, and 27-year-old Enery Fernandez held on $5,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty at Tuesday's arraignment.
Police say customers would call Ledesma on a cell phone and he would send them to the cosmetics department at a local Walgreens where they would meet his girlfriend, Fernandez.
Detective Sgt. John Arahovites says Fernandez would then take customers to a private area in the store where a drug transaction would take place.
Lawyers for the defendants questioned the strength of the district attorney's case.
