Morgan Freeman said he was "doing very well" and thanked his "many well-wishers" in a statement upon leaving the hospital on Thursday after his car crash.
"I left the hospital today just after 12 noon, Memphis time," Freeman, 71, said in a statement released by his rep to People magazine. "I'm doing very well. I feel real good. I just really, I thank the staff at 'Elvis Presley [Hospital]' and many, many thanks to my many well-wishers. It's great to know people care about you.”
Freeman's rep, Ken Sunshine, also said the Oscar-winning actor was doing well.
"He's recovering nicely at home, and his career will continue as planned," he told People.
Freeman will have to wear a neck brace for six to eight months, according to his attorney Bill Luckett, who added: "The doctors have said it will be six months to a year before he plays golf again. He hates that."
Luckett also said this week that Freeman and his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee, had been separated since December and are getting a divorce. No divorce papers have been filed in Tallahatchie County where Freeman owns a home with Colley-Lee, according to Tallahatchie County Chancery Clerk Anita Mullen Greenwood.
Freeman was discharged Thursday from Tennessee's Regional Medical Center after being treated for broken bones and other injuries sustained in a weekend car crash in Mississippi.
The actor was hospitalized after the accident Sunday left him with a broken arm, broken elbow and shoulder damage.
Demaris Meyer, 48, of Memphis, a passenger in the car driven by Freeman, was also injured in the crash.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
