Heat claimed the lives of two more people bringing the total to six heat-related deaths in the Dallas County area, officials said.
In Tarrant County, authorities are reviewing two deaths that may be heat-related, officials said.
The North Texas area has been the hottest in the state with temperatures topping the century mark 12 consecutive days. The high at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Alliance Airport in Fort Worth was 102 degrees on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The Wichita Falls area was among the hottest locations in the state again for the second day in a row with the high there reaching 106 degrees.
The hot Texas sun has taken its toll, with the latest victims being 64-year-old Dorothy Johnson of Hutchins and a 61-year-old Dallas man, who was found Saturday. Johnson was found dead Monday, the Dallas County medical examiner's office said.
Four others fell victim to the excessive heat recently. Alfred Eberle Jr., 57, died Saturday when temperatures reached 104 degrees and Ronald Gibson, 49; Billie Emmons, 82; and Harold Ulrick, 84, also had heat-related deaths. Ulrick died July 28 when forecasters say the high was 104.
A call Tuesday to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office was not immediately returned. The office had said on Monday it was investigating two other possible heat-related deaths.
