Victoria Beckham preached girl power as a member of the Spice Girls, and genes may have had something to do with her revolutionary spirit.

The singer, 34, is the great-great-great granddaughter of Carl Heinrich Pfaender, a 19th century German artist and the right-hand man of communist philosopher Karl Marx, a German historian told German news agency ddp.

Hans Mueller told ddp he was reasearching the life of Pfaender when he was astonished to discover the link between a pioneer of the workers' movement and the Spice Girl.

The historian said he contacted Beckham's mother Jacqueline, who confirmed his findings and promised to tell Victoria.
