Two California teenagers accused of hacking into school computers to steal exams and change grades were in court Tuesday for their arraignment, the Orange County Register reports.
Omar Khan and Tanvir Singh, both 18, both pleaded not guilty at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
Khan, who lives in the ritzy Coto de Caza gated community in an unincorporated part of Orange County, faces up to 38 years in prison on 69 counts including burglary and fraud.
He's out on $50,000 bail and has retained celebrity attorney Mark Geragos, famous for defending Michael Jackson and convicted wife-and-fetus-killer Scott Peterson.
Singh, who lives in Ladera Ranch, another planned but unincorporated community, is in much less trouble. He faces four counts and a maximum three years in prison and is free on his own recognizance.
Both attended Tesoro High School in Las Flores, yet another unincorporated part of Orange County.
The pair were charged June 17, but their arraignments had been postponed twice already. No one else has been charged.
Khan and Singh were ordered to be back in court Sept. 16 for a pretrial hearing.
