A Guatemalan firefighter says heavy rains touched off a landslide that destroyed a home and killed a family of 12 inside.
Firefighter Sergio Escalante says "the whole family died" — a husband, wife and 10 children, including a 5-month-old baby.
National Disaster Unit official Hugo Arvizu says recent heavy rains are responsible for Sunday's slide in the village of El Campanario.
Arvizu says at least 45 families in the region have been evacuated.
