IPSWICH – A former daycare center employee has been charged by authorities in Australia for allegedly rubbing a dirty diaper in the face of a four-year old autistic boy, The Courier Mail of Queensland reported.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place two years ago at a childcare center in Ipswich. According to The Courier, the incident has only come to light in recent weeks after the mother of the child, Rochelle Hodge, was informed of the abuse of her son Connor by a former employee.
On Saturday, authorities charged a 28-year-old woman with common assault in connection with the incident. According to The Courier, at the time of the assault, the woman became frustrated with the boy, who cannot speak, and rubbed a soiled diaper in his face.
Hodge, who The Courier reports is also considering legal action against the center’s current operator, ABC Learning Centers, said she believed the center thought they could “get away with it,” because her son does not have the ability to tell anyone what happened.
