A double-decker bus crashed on a Peruvian jungle highway, killing 14 and injuring 10.
Luis Miguel Ciccia, manager of the Civa transport company, told Peru's PRR radio that the bus crashed into a rocky hillside at dawn on Saturday after the driver swerved to avoid hitting an on-coming tractor-trailer truck.
Nine passengers were on the sleeper bus's bottom floor when it crashed, while 44 others were upstairs, according to Ciccia. The injured passengers were taken to a hospital.
The bus left Lima on Thursday night, bound for the town of Tarapoto in northern Peru. It had almost completed its 390-mile journey.
