A 55-year-old English woman who once advertised for an egg donor on the sides of London buses has given birth to a girl, BBC News reported.
Linda and Richard Weeks, of Maidstone in the town of Kent, England, tried for 14 years to have a baby.
After Linda Weeks turned 55, the cut-off age for fertility treatments in England, the couple spent almost $4,000 advertising for an egg donor before an anonymous donor offered to help them.
Linda Weeks gave birth to baby Katy about four weeks ago. The baby was born by Caesarean section at Maidstone Hospital weighing 5 pounds 11 ounces, the BBC reported.
Almost 100 women responded to the 50 ads placed by the couple on the sides of London buses. Only one followed through with the donation. She was not paid for the procedure, the report said.
