Some kids were fishing in Louisiana when they called police and said they'd found a human leg sticking out of the water, officials said.

Officers found the rest of the torso Wednesday several hundred yards away, draped over a pipe, said Miden Police Det. Tommy Kemp.

Authorities are using cadaver dogs to search for the head. The body appears to have been in the ditch for about two and a half weeks, Deputy Coroner Sallie Bethea said.

Police are investigating this as a homicide, but that's routine any time a body is found.

There have been no recent reports of anyone missing in Minden, Kemp said.

It's possible the person fell into the ditch and the body just went unnoticed until now, he said.

The body has been sent to Little Rock, Ark., for an autopsy.
