Cops: Girl, 12, Ran Multiple Sclerosis Charity Scam in Ohio

Police and a charity say a girl is fraudulently soliciting contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at Cleveland-area businesses.

Parma police Detective Marty Compton believes they may have identified the people involved in the scam. He would not yet be more specific.

The girl tells people that she is 12 and is raising money for the charity because her grandmother died from MS. She promises donors discounted passes by mail to Cedar Point, an amusement part in northern Ohio.

But people in Cleveland, Parma and other cities made complaints that they've been scammed, and the MS Society is warning people to be cautious.
