PHOENIX – A Southwest Airlines flight has landed at Sky Harbor International Airport with flames coming from a right rear wheel.
Sky Harbor spokeswoman Julie Rodriguez said Phoenix firefighters quickly put out the fire Monday and no one was injured.
Rodriguez said the aircraft remains on the airport's north runway. Other flights are using the airport's two south runways.
The 127 passengers were taken to a terminal.
Southwest spokeswoman Whitney Eichinger said the cause of the tire's blow out is under investigation. The aircraft will be taken to a nearby Southwest maintenance facility for mechanics to inspect.
She said another plane will be put into service as soon as possible.
Flight 2511 originated in Austin, Texas.
