Railroad Bridge Collapses in Flood-Ravaged Iowa

A railroad bridge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, collapsed Thursday, sending railcars and debris into the swollen Cedar River.

Part of the bridge was swept away after the collapse, FOX News has learned, though no injuries were reported.

Residents spent the morning sandbagging in an effort to save the city, which received three inches of rain Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue warnings of "a historic hydrologic event."

The agency said unprecedented river crests are expected along the Cedar River, bringing with it record flooding in east central Iowa.
