Man Pleads Guilty to Swindling Sept. 11 Widow, New York Prosecutors Say

Prosecutors say a former stockbroker has pleaded guilty to swindling a Sept. 11 widow out of $250,000.

Prosecutors say Kevin Dunn of Colonia, N.J., was a longtime friend of the widow, Jaime Amoroso.

Authorities say she approached Dunn about investing $2 million she received from a federal compensation fund for the families of those killed and injured in the 2001 attacks.

Authorities say Dunn stole $250,000 of the money through various schemes. Dunn is a former employee of MetLife Inc. He faces up to nearly six years in prison.

Jaime Amoroso's husband, Christopher, was a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police officer. He died while responding to the attacks.

Dunn's attorney didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
