Police: Woman Drove Wrong Way on New York Bridge

A New York woman was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated Monday after she drove across the three-mile Tappan Zee Bridge going the wrong way, authorities said.

Kathleen M. Beaton, 28, of Eastchester was stopped around 3 a.m. Sunday, State police said. Several motorists had called police to say a car was going in the wrong direction.

Beaton is due in court June 30. The name of her lawyer could not be determined.

The Tappan Zee, which crosses the Hudson River, links Rockland and Westchester counties.
