TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. – An elementary school principal from Luzerne County came up with a novel way to reward her students: She jumped out of an airplane.
Lake Noxen Elementary School Principal Debbie Demming took the plunge Wednesday after her students got many people to donate blood. They also raised $550 for the Wyoming Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Demming got about an hour's worth of training before the plane took off from Skyhaven Airport near Tunkhannock. She jumped out at 10,000 feet and landed safely.
Demming says jumping from a plane is something she's wanted to do for a long time.
