Police say a World War II bomb has been successfully defused in the southern German city of Augsburg.
Construction workers discovered the 1,100-pound bomb Tuesday morning during digging work. Officials decided to defuse it at the site.
Police shut off an area in a 400-yard radius around the site. They evacuated several apartments.
Police say the operation to defuse the bomb succeeded without problems and lasted 20 minutes.
Unexploded bombs from World War II are still found regularly in Germany more than 60 years after the conflict's end.
